Hello, lovely readers! It’s been a while since my last post—turns out things really escalate once a company truly launches ;)
First, I promise to get back to writing more regularly. Building Parea Books, working with wonderfully talented authors and illustrators, collaborating with other like-minded companies on events, and connecting with readers has been a dream and I’m eager to give you more of the BTS scoop.
Second, and the reason for this post, is that I’m so excited to tell you about a new concept: Parea Studios.
Over the past few months, I’ve talked to a number of authors who have either already published a book or they have a deal with another publisher, but they want to create a compelling reader-first approach to marketing their book and they’re curious to know whether Parea would help market their work even if we didn’t publish it. I’ve also talked to a few publishers who are eager to develop innovative, modern marketing strategies and build strong communities around their books but don’t have the direct relationship with their readers because they go through distribution channels. Brands, too, are hungry for community-centric programming around books, given that people are reading more now than they ever have.
All of these conversations led me to the creation of Parea Studios: a creative agency dedicated to creating culture through community, content, and conversation. We provide branding, positioning, content strategy and development, and general author thought leadership. We will identify the right audience for a book, develop a reader engagement strategy, and create experiential strategy and programming. We are a team of creative marketers, entrepreneurs, content strategists, and community builders. Simply put: we bring books to the right readers, and we bring the readers together.
Whenever someone asks me what my bigger vision is, it’s always the same answer: to get more people reading more books more often. As I’ve said in earlier posts, we don’t suffer from a lack of content. There are tens of thousands of incredible books. There are millions of people who want to read more. The biggest issue, and now opportunity, is to bridge these two things: to help talented authors who have written provocative and engaging books find their community of readers who have been hungry to find that exact book. It’s to give people that feeling of falling in love with a story, that feeling of not wanting to read the book too quickly because they don’t want it to end, that feeling of obsessing over a plot twist or character and wanting to tell all of their friends about it.
We’re building a web of readers, authors, publishers, brands, and hospitality partners who all work together to help readers find stories, to help authors find readers, to help culture move forward through words.
